LONDON, England - June 21,2010 - UK company, Traffic Technology, has supplied the City of London Corporation with its Eco Pyro compact pedestrian counter to monitor pedestrian use of London Bridge. The device uses the patented Eco-counter pyroelectric sensor to deliver a reliable solution for counting both pedestrians and cyclists.

Easy to install and requiring no in-ground sensors, heat generated by the human body allows the device to accurately count pedestrians, even if they are close together. The device has a customized mounting kit that enables it to be discreetly installed in any location. It is easily moved from site to site, making it ideal for temporary counting. Data from the counter is downloaded to the dedicated Eco Xchange software for evaluation and reporting.

Jenette Coduto, transport planner, City of London Department of Planning and Transportation says, “Traffic Technology set up the equipment and software ready to go in a very short time. We plan to have similar monitoring on all London’s bridges; the portability of the Eco Pyro compact makes it simple to move the unit from bridge to bridge as required.”

According to Richard Toomey, managing director of Traffic Technology, the Eco Pyro compact is ideal for urban counting such as this, enabling customers to easily and quickly evaluate trends. “In addition, our secure download website, www.mytrafficdata.co.uk, will in future enable customers to access their data from any computer,” he added.
